Looking north on Broadway
Lunch at The Soup Place allows me to check out what is happening to the Babcock Building. Things look like they are moving along. Zpizza is already open for business. The theatre has apparently never closed. I don’t know if they will have condos in the spaces above the retail locations on the ground floor.
This was originally the site of an opera house which burned down in 1906. Rebuilt as a theatre but gutted by fire again in 1935.
The Babcock Theatre has risen again and will be joined by some new retail spaces.
In the summertime there is a lot of sidewalk activity, restaurants expanding and retail displays of shoes and clothing and a few places to just sit and think too.
